MATTHEW A. SURIANO

ABOUT HIM

Matthew A. Suriano is a Toronto-based designer and 2015 Master of Architecture graduate from Ryerson University where he was named to the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada Student Honour Roll in recognition of his Master's work. Matthew previously completed his Bachelor of Architectural Science degree at Ryerson, graduating with honours in 2012. Over his five years of involvement with [R]ed[U]x Lab Matthew has participated as a volunteer for Oxalis and has acted as lead designer and fabricator on the Nuit Blanche Projects Aura and Stomata, as well as on the Toronto Design Offsite Festival project Opticianado. During his studies and as a collaborator with [R]ed[U]x Lab Matthew's research interests and work focused on the development of spatial experiences and architectural atmospheres, while simultaneously exploring physical computing and digital fabrication methods related to architecture.

Matthew is the recipient of various awards for his work at Ryerson University and with [R]ed[U]x Lab. Under his lead [R]ed[U]x Lab won the People's Choice Favourite Window Installation at the 2014 Toronto Design Offsite Festival for Opticianado. Most recently Matthew was the recipient of the 2015 Dennis Mock Student Leadership Award for his extracurricular contributions to [R]ed[U]x Lab and to the Department of Architectural Science at Ryerson University.
